The Department of Indian &Foreign Languages is one of the most sought-after departments of the University with faculty of six qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers. We are committed to foster professionals with competent skills in languages, intercultural communication, international affairs and cultural understanding from various nuanced perspectives. The Department envisages promoting intensive language programmes in Hindi, English, German and Japanese at various levels. It also envisions offering a wide choice of modules and scholarly engagements, across literature, translation, history, contemporary politics, culture and comparative studies.

The Department offers several courses namely MA, Communicational Skill course, certificate and diploma courses in German and Japanese languages. The Department organizes conferences, seminars, guest lectures and workshops. We believe that since English is the global language of communication, and has become a major requirement in the job market, all students should improve their oral and written communication skills in English in order to be able to compete in the highly competitive job market. To accomplish this, our department aims to instill the concept of life-long learning into the students. All the four pillars of language-learning, speaking, listening, reading and writing are integrated in the course delivery to ensure a balanced development of language skills. Of course, a university education is about more than what happens in the classroom. We encourage our students to pursue research opportunities, to perform and publish their creative work, and to seek internship to build on what they are learning and to prepare for their future careers.
