About Department
The Physics Department of the Gurugram University was established in 2020 with the intake of 20 students to start with and the intake was increased to 40 students from session2021-2022.The department has implemented the scheme and syllabus as per NEP 2020 for M.Sc. (Physics) effective from session 2022-23.
Presently the department is offering specialization in Condensed Matter Physics and MaterialScience and planning to start specialization in Electronics and Nuclear Physics as well. Department of Physics has two labs, Lab –I (Basic Physics Lab) and Lab-II (Optics Lab) which are equipped with quality equipment’s equivalent to National reputed institutes like NITs and IITs related to M.Sc. course experiments. Setting up of Advanced Physics Lab and Material Science lab is under process in the next phase.
In the short time span department has conducted quiz contest, poster presentation, a hands on workshop on Vacuum Science and Technology, extension lectures by eminent Professors from various university and research institute. The department is monitoring students for NET/JRF Coaching which results to group studies for competition exam. Few students have qualified NET exam in current session June 2022.
Department of Physics has highly qualified and motivated faculty members having vast area of expertise and diverse research experience like:
- Nano-materials synthesis for Biomedical and energy storage applications
- High temperature superconductors for electrical conductors and energy storage devices.
- Nuclear Instrumentation, Dosimetry Analysis, Radiological Assessment of nuclides, Radiation Detection and Environmental Radioactivity Monitoring
- Experimental Material Science (Nanoparticles conducting polymers and two dimensional materials based applications).
