About Department
The Department of Psychology was established in the year 2018 with an aim to promote Psychology as a domain for investigating the solutions of human problems by assembling academician, practitioners & students. The Department of Psychology prepares students to become professional Psychologist, Counsellor & mental health practitioners who can effectively deal with diverse mental health issues like stress, depression, anxiety & suicidal tendencies. The Department of Psychology offers two programmes: M.Sc. Psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
The Department of Psychology has a functional mental wellness clinic “Sukoon” which was inaugurated with the aim of providing the sought after therapeutic interventions to the students and teaching and non-teaching staff of Gurugram University. The department has a mental health outreach email “sukoon.wellness@gurugramuniversity.ac.in” which is open for whosoever wants to seek help.
The Department of Psychology has recently tied up with Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (VIMHANS), New Delhi, to impart Internship Training to the students of Psychology. Furthermore, the department of Psychology is actively involved in rendering consultancy services related to stress management to the Gurugram Police. Moreover, in its efforts to reach out to the community at large, it also provides educational and career counselling to students of the five villages that have been adopted by Gurugram University under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan.
Most of the passed-out students of MSc Psychology are engaged in teaching, corporate, own ventures or are pursuing higher studies. One of the students of the batch (2019-2021) have cleared NET- JRF exam of the UGC with AIR-1 and three of the students have cleared GATE exam.
