Vision and Mission

VISION :

The Department envisions a healthy and positive cultural growth of the students for the better social, economic, political and cultural environment in the country. We believe in the multi-ethnic, multicultural, multi religious texture of our country. Accordingly, we strive to shape and reshape the attitudes of the students compatible to these diversities in order to strengthen the democratic spirit of our country.

Research activities in the department would be strengthened. The Department is engaged in providing learning and research opportunities in the following Thrust Areas: New literatures in English, Technology in Language Teaching, Modern and Postmodern Literatures, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, Translation Studies, Indian Literature in English and Film Studies. To this end, the department is planning to emphasis on research activities with the support from the head of the university. The faculty members will undertake Minor/Major research projects with financial assistance from UGC, ICSSR and other funding agencies.

MISSION :

  • The Department will implement innovative and technology enhanced pedagogies, thereby building strong foundation of literary sensibilities and language competence.
  • To make all the students acquire the required communicative competency in English and multi intelligence including cognitive skills and soft skills so as to secure a job of their choice.
  • To encourage the faculty/ research scholars to publish articles in leading journals and present papers in the national and international conferences in ELT and thereby providing an effective platform for students in the acquisition of the language skills.
