VISION :
To become a global centre of excellence in the study and propagation of Indian knowledge systems, languages, and cultural heritage, fostering a deep understanding of India’s intellectual and spiritual traditions and their relevance in the modern world. Mission
Research activities in the department would be strengthened. The Department is engaged in providing learning and research opportunities in the following Thrust Areas: New literatures in English, Technology in Language Teaching, Modern and Postmodern Literatures, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, Translation Studies, Indian Literature in English and Film Studies. To this end, the department is planning to emphasis on research activities with the support from the head of the university. The faculty members will undertake Minor/Major research projects with financial assistance from UGC, ICSSR and other funding agencies.

- Preserve and promote the richness of Indian languages, literature, and knowledge systems.
- Encourage the study of ancient Indian texts and their contextual application to contemporary challenges.
- Promote comparative studies to understand India’s contribution to world cultures and philosophies.
